Hello! and welcome to rePro-Truth, a Substack dedicated to reproductive rights, countering anti-abortion mis/disinformation, and providing information and analysis you can use.
Let me begin with a question:
Have you ever been lied to or misled?
I have— and that experience ultimately changed my mind on repro rights.
I'm S.P. Rogers. For years, I wrote for websites against abortion, one of which was explicitly dedicated to the "pro-life" cause. During this time, I was also involved in grassroots lobbying in favor of abortion bans and pro-life politicians.
In 2019, while doing research for an anti-abortion article, I realized that the "pro-life" movement bigwigs had been lying to me and to the public at large. The disconcerting realization caused me to begin questioning other claims put forth by the "pro-life" movement, ultimately leading me to become pro-choice.
Why do I put "pro-life" in quotations? Because there is nothing pro life about the anti-abortion movement. I am now pro-choice because I am pro life— and the only truly life-affirming position, in my opinion, is the pro-choice position.
In 2022, I launched a Twitter account dedicated to countering the disinformation, racism, classism, & misogyny of the “pro-life” movement. This Substack, rePro-Truth, is an extension of these efforts.
Because truth matters.
I can't undo the harm that I caused during my "pro-life" days. However, as a person who knows and understands the anti-abortion movement, my hope is to bring positive change— with your help.

I too had once been pro-life until I followed Live Action on Facebook about 2 or 3 years ago. I never really paid much attention to the actual PL movement until I decided to learn for myself what stances Lila Rose took on this issue. Upon reading the posts and comments I realized quickly that their take was overtly extreme and totally lacking in nuance. I could no longer follow the abject nonsense of this group. I always knew that sometimes abortion is medically necessary to save a woman’s life if a pregnancy goes terribly wrong. But when the government is allowed to make personal decisions for us they have no business being in is when I have a major problem. When SCOTUS overturned Roe I knew it would be mass chaos with states criminalizing the procedure to the extent it would cause catastrophic damage to the healthcare system in America. I am afraid is only going to get much worse in the next few years unless something changes quickly. All of this has really made me pay much more attention to the political landscape that has brought about all this. Former President Trump has nominated extreme right wing judges to these courts and that is part of the problem. We need common sense judicial representation in our courts that will leave the medical decisions up to the FDA and the medical community to make the best public health policy for America. The GOP has become overtly corrupt and authoritarian and for that reason I can no longer support them in key political roles anymore. It’s going to take a massive loss for them so they can no longer control the purse strings.
